ADHESION, BONDING, AND COATING

Bonding is when two or more structures are joined together using some materials known as adhesive and it is widely used in industries for various purposes. Whereas adhesive is the intensity of particles or surfaces to stick or bonded to one another by intermolecular forces.

 A coating is a covering that is applied to the surface of the substrate using the principles of bonding and adhesion. The adhesive strength of the coated sample determines the quality and durability of bonded joints. Coating and bonding are widely used in many industrial sectors causing a great need to test their mechanical properties.

The common problems that are always faced by the industry in polymer packaging and microelectronics are a bonding failure. Bonding failure occurs when surface contaminants accidentally happen to the process. Therefore, effective quantitative testing and analysis to determine adhesive, bonding, or coating systems are a great need for industries and researchers.
